CARRY-ON LUGGAGE

SIZE AND WEIGHT
According to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), only one carry-on bag measuring 115 cm (height + length + width) is permitted in the cabin, and must comply with the x-ray inspection limits. The permitted weight varies by airline, so it is always advisable to check with the airline before departure. For Volotea, the maximum permitted weight is 10 kg. Passengers are advised not to carry in their carry-on items that may be considered hazardous to x-ray screening, such as knives, corkscrews, scissors, or manicure scissors. These items can be transported in checked baggage.
Each easyJet passenger is entitled to one carry-on bag measuring no more than 55 x 40 x 20 cm. There are no weight limits, provided they are reasonable; that is, passengers must be able to stow their carry-on baggage in the overhead compartments without assistance.

PERSONAL BELONGINGS
In addition to carry-on baggage, you may bring the following personal items on board:

  • a handbag or briefcase or laptop;
  • a camera, video camera, or CD player;
  • an overcoat or raincoat;
  • an umbrella or walking stick;
  • a pair of crutches or other walking aid;
  • baby food, travel essentials, and a baby carrier;
  • reading materials for the trip;
  • items purchased at airport stores (limited in quantity and weight).

CHECKED LUGGAGE

Here’s everything you need to know about carrying baggage on a plane.

SIZE AND WEIGHT
The allowance (weight and size of baggage) varies depending on the airline, destination, and class of travel. For domestic flights, it is generally permitted to carry one suitcase in the hold and a second in the cabin. The permitted weight of checked baggage is approximately 20 kg for traditional airlines and 15 kg for low-cost airlines.
If you exceed the weight or number of pieces allowed, you will be required to pay an extra fee for excess baggage. It is important to contact the carrier to determine the maximum weight allowed.
Passengers are advised to label their baggage with their name and surname and to ensure that the checked baggage receipt is attached to the ticket upon check-in. This will be used to identify the baggage upon arrival. If your baggage is lost, please contact the Lost & Found office at your arrival airport immediately.

BULK OR FRAGILE BAGGAGE IN CABIN
This baggage must be placed in the seat next to your own, but you must reserve and pay for an additional seat. The weight must not exceed 75 kg, and there are no rights to increased baggage allowances.
SPORTS EQUIPMENT: Sports equipment includes bicycles (packaged and with handlebars and pedals folded), surfboards and windsurfers (packaged), ski and golf equipment, and scuba diving equipment (empty tanks and flashlights without batteries).
MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS: Instruments no longer than 1 meter in length may be carried on board as carry-on baggage; instruments exceeding the permitted dimensions must be checked in and treated as bulky baggage.

WEAPONS AND AMMUNITION

Weapons and ammunition may only be transported in the baggage hold as checked baggage. They may only be accepted if unloaded, dismantled, and packed in appropriate, closed containers. Passengers must possess all the documentation required for the transportation and carrying of weapons, as per the laws of the countries of embarkation, transit, and disembarkation. Passengers are required to report these documents before acceptance by the carrier and to hand them over to the airport border police office, or, failing that, to the airport police office.

TRANSPORTATION OF LIQUIDS

New Regulations on the Transport of Liquids
Security Rules at European Union Airports 5 New security rules at European Union airports apply from Monday, November 6, 2006, to all European Union airports, as well as to Norway, Iceland, and Switzerland, on all domestic and international flights.

To protect passengers from the new terrorist threat posed by liquid explosives, the European Union has adopted new security rules that limit the quantity of liquids that can be brought through airport security checkpoints. Each passenger and their carry-on baggage will be screened for liquids, in addition to other items already prohibited by current regulations. The new rules place no restrictions on liquids that can be purchased at shops located beyond security checkpoints or on board aircraft operated by European Union airlines. It is advisable not to open the sealed bags containing these products until arriving at your final destination and to retain proof of purchase. Otherwise, when transiting through any intermediate airports, purchased liquids may be confiscated at security checkpoints.

WHAT’S NEW?

While there are no restrictions on liquids in checked baggage, small quantities of liquids are permitted in carry-on baggage that undergo airport security checks. They must be contained in containers each with a maximum capacity of 100 milliliters (1/10 of a liter) or equivalent (e.g., 100 grams). These containers must be placed in a transparent, easily resealable plastic bag with a capacity no greater than 1 liter (i.e., approximately 18 x 20 cm). Each passenger (including infants) will be permitted to carry only one plastic bag of the above dimensions (see illustration).

LIQUID SUBSTANCES ARE INTENDED FOR:
• water and other beverages, soups, syrups
• creams, lotions, and oils
• perfumes
• sprays
• gels, including hair and shower gels
• contents of pressurized containers, including shaving foam, other foams, and deodorants
• pastes, including toothpaste
• mixtures of liquids and solids, mascara, and any other product of a similar consistency.

Medicines and liquids prescribed for dietary purposes, such as baby food, may be carried outside the bag and are not subject to volume restrictions. Proof of the actual necessity and authenticity of these items may be required.

At the Airport
To facilitate screening, it is mandatory to:
• present all liquids carried as carry-on baggage to security officials for examination;
• Remove jackets and overcoats: they will be searched separately;

• Remove laptops and other large electrical and electronic devices from your carry-on baggage: they will be searched separately from your carry-on baggage.

Geasar requests passengers to cooperate with security personnel and airport staff.
