During a rainy day, clothing merchant Léon-Claude Duhamel observed passers-by bundled up in heavy rain gear, hands full with cumbersome umbrellas. The idea struck: create a rain-protection garment to always carry with you, that was neither an umbrella nor a traditional raincoat. The result was a revolutionary jacket — lightweight, comfortable and perfectly waterproof — that, in fine weather, folds into a handy pouch pocket and ties around the waist. The product was immediately launched on the French market and in its first year of sales was a sensation: 250,000 units sold. The brand’s renown today is such that K-Way® is one of the very few brands legally defined as “ultra-famous” and featured in the Italian language dictionary
