Hand luggage

In accordance with the regulations set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), passengers are permitted to carry only one piece of hand luggage in the cabin, with a total size of 115 cm (height + length + width), which must fit within the dimensions of the X-ray security screening equipment. The permitted weight varies depending on the airline, so passengers are advised to always check with their carrier before departure. For Volotea, the maximum permitted weight is 10 kg. Passengers are kindly requested not to carry in their hand luggage any items that may be considered dangerous during X-ray screening, such as knives, corkscrews, and scissors including manicure scissors; such items may be transported in checked baggage.

Checked baggage

The baggage allowance (weight and size) varies depending on the airline, destination, and class of travel. For domestic flights, passengers are usually permitted to check one bag in the hold and carry one additional bag in the cabin. The permitted weight for checked baggage is approximately 20 kg for traditional airlines and 15 kg for low-cost carriers. When the weight limits or the number of pieces of luggage are exceeded, an extra fee must be paid for the excess baggage. It is therefore important to contact the carrier to find out the maximum permitted weight.

Special baggage

These must be placed in the seat next to the passenger's own seat; however, it is necessary to book and pay for an additional seat. The weight must not exceed 75 kg and no extra baggage allowance applies.

Liquid transport

New Security Rules at European Union Airports applied from Monday 6 November 2006 at all airports in the European Union, as well as in Norway, Iceland and Switzerland, on all domestic and international flights.
