ALGHERO AND AMSTERDAM DRAW CLOSER: NEW DIRECT CONNECTION OPERATED BY TRANSAVIA INAUGURATED
Alghero, April 6, 2026 – The first direct flight from Amsterdam landed today at Alghero Airport, marking a significant moment for the airport and the entire northwest territory of Sardinia, which is connected to the Dutch capital by a scheduled flight for the first time.
The new route, operated by Transavia, will be active from April 6 to October 23 with a twice-weekly frequency, helping to expand the airport’s international offerings and strengthen the destination’s positioning in European markets with the highest potential.
To celebrate the arrival of the first flight, Sogeaal organized a welcome ceremony featuring the traditional ribbon-cutting.
Transavia, the low-cost airline of the Air France-KLM group, is one of the leading leisure carriers in the European market. Transavia Netherlands has been connecting more than 125 routes across Europe and the Mediterranean for over 60 years and carries approximately 10 million passengers annually.
The collaboration with Transavia France will be further strengthened with the launch of the direct connection to Paris, operational from April 18 to October 24, consolidating the carrier’s presence at Alghero Airport.
“The direct connection with Amsterdam is one of many new developments for 2026,” stated Silvio Pippobello, CEO of Sogeaal. “This new route, along with the connection to Paris, demonstrates Transavia’s confidence in the potential of the northwest Sardinia market and marks the start of a strategic collaboration aimed at international traffic growth. Our commitment is to continue expanding the airport’s network toward international markets with great potential and to pursue the project of deseasonalization by consolidating partnerships with carriers that can help achieve these goals.”
With the introduction of the new connection and the strengthening of routes to France, Alghero Airport consolidates its role as an international gateway for North Sardinia, in line with strategies aimed at increasing tourist flows, encouraging the deseasonalization of demand, and generating positive impacts on the local economic system.
